Normally, plasma levels are very low. It increases rapidly within 5-6 hours of tissue damage and inflammation, and drops rapidly to normal levels during recovery. SAA is not only an inflammatory marker, but also a new serum biomarker for differentiating the severity and prognosis of various tumors.
